My name is Chris Long. I was the creator and webmaster, or more appropriately, web evangelist of ChristianBaptistLiving.com although I am no longer associated with ChristianBaptistLiving.com. This is the short version of my story…

I was born again on May 15, 1984 and was baptized at Shiloh Baptist Church in Rossville, Georgia. In the spring of 1993, I married my high school sweetheart, Dana Marie Williams, and gave her my name. We now live in Fort Oglethorpe, Georgia with our 4 beautiful children.

I answered the call to become a preacher of the gospel on October 28, 1994 shortly after reconsecrating my life to the Lord at New Life Baptist Church in the East Ridge community (Georgia side). I had spent the previous 2 years in the U.S. Navy and living in the world’s embrace, away from God. But our faithful God called me to Himself, tenderly and lovingly as always.

I was licensed as a preacher of the gospel on March 24, 1996 at New Life Baptist Church after completing over a year of preaching under the watch care of my church and Pastor Wayne Wallin. After 4 years at New Life Baptist Church, I felt the Lord’s leading to serve Him at the Elizabeth Terrace Baptist Church in Rossville, Georgia, where I now serve as a lay preacher and the coordinator of our outreach ministry to the Union Gospel Mission in Chattanooga.

I am currently studying by correspondence through Slidell Baptist Seminary of Slidell, Louisiana. I plan to earn my Associate of Theology degree this year (2005).

Many people have asked me over the years, what area of ministry I felt that God had called me into and I’m sure that I have given a myriad of uncertain answers, but for the last several years, I have sensed that He must be calling me to be an evangelist. I did not realize until recently that part of that ministry would entail being a web evangelist through this website, but considering this month alone, we have reached numerous people in 45 countries worldwide, I now have come to that realization. One young man from Morocco has been soundly saved after emailing me for more information and is serving God and witnessing for the Lord to his family (and suffering persecution for it). I have received many emails from around the world (some good and some bad) which reassures me that I am on the right track as the preacher / web evangelist of ChristianBaptistLiving.com.

In addition to the web ministry, I have sensed that now is the time to create this page so that people can learn who I am and Pastors who feel led to invite me to preach a meeting or series of meetings would have the opportunity to do so. My work schedule on my secular job is 3 days per week (Thurs-Sat) so I will only be available for meetings Sunday through Wednesday night (depending on travel time).

I am so grateful for the Lord Jesus Christ, His perfect atonement for my sins at Calvary, and His gift of eternal life. I am extremely thankful that He chose to call me, the shy kid who had rather fail a high school book report than speak in front of the class, to be a preacher of the Gospel and an online and offline evangelist, kept by the power of God! Thanks be to God for His unspeakable gift!
